QR Code research

A QR code, or a quick response code is a machine-readable code consisting of an array of black and white squares. It is mainly used for storing URLS. Such information can be readable by using a smartphone device or any other device that has a QR scanner ability. I believe that a QR code is both a input device and an output device. I think it is an input device because when creating, or generating a code the user has to input certain characters and phrases. By inputting characters the QR code generator then outputs a URL, message or a word to other users using a QR scanner.
Businesses are using this technology to benefit and help the way they market there products and promotions. Some examples are promoting movie trailers, creating consumer coupons, links to music downloads or a companies products for sale. In my own opinion, I think when companies use a QR code it promotes a fun and innovative way to attract consumers.
I think that the only downside to a QR code would be just for the viewer. If a viewer doesn't have the proper technology, such a QR code scanner, then the viewer may miss out on the mystery of finding out whats behind the QR code message.
